This room contains a walnut Renaissance bed which was slept in by President Grant when he visited in 1880. Grant and his wife, Julia, had just returned from a tour of the world after his presidency. The trunk at the foot of the bed is buffalo hide. The walnut dresser is unusual because of the brown marble. One of the most unique features of this room is the hand-stenciled ceiling. Originally the entire ceiling was hand-stenciled but the middle decoration was unable to be restored and the border is all that is seen today. The fourth owners of the house, the Col. Fain W. King, found the hand stenciling and restored it.
